NOTE:

Students 16 and older now have the option of completing an online only course. For these students they will find a cut-out at the bottom of their voucher that will allow them to purchase their license. Students younger than 16 must still attend a skills & exam day and be accompanied by a parent or guardian if under 14.

 This is an on-line course followed by a ‘Skills and Exam’ Day

The Online Course requires that students complete the knowledge portion of the course online and attend a skills and exam day which is about 6 hours.  Students complete quizzes and exams as they do the online course and are provided with a voucher that must be printed and brought with the student to attend the skills and exam day upon completion of the final online exam. In the Skills and Exam day session students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, participate in activities, bring in a survival kit with appropriate contents and pass a Maine 50 question test with a grade of at least 70%. Once again; students must complete the online course and provide voucher to attend the Skills and Exam Day.

Topics/requirements at the Skills & Exam day include:

  • Registration for Maine certification
  • Attend the program in its’ entirety, per instructor outline
  • Participate in all activities
  • Demonstrate safe handling of firearms
  • Show completed survival kit
  • Pass Maine final exam with a grade of 70%
  • Demonstrate a proper attitude

NOTE:   The class is limited to 25 students. The $10.00 course fee will be collected at the beginning of the Skills and Exam Day. Registrations will close on October 25, 2020 to provide students with sufficient time (typically 4-8 hours) to complete the online course before the Skills & Exam day on October 31, 2020 at the BQMC in Turner, Maine You MUST register online and bring your voucher and survival kit to be included in this class .  If you register for the course and then find out you cannot make it, please notify us so your reservation can be given to another student.

  •  COVID-19 Guidelines will be followed.

Before you attend:

  • Students/guests will not be allowed to attend if they exhibit flu-symptoms or are not feeling well.
  • Every participant must follow quarantine guidelines meaning if they have traveled out of state or have been exposed to COVID they must have self-quarantined for at least 14 days following the exposure.
  • Out-of-State students will not be allowed unless they have completed the 14-day, in-State quarantine.
  • Classes are limited to registered students only, except when a youth has registered, and a guardian is going to accompany them. All guardians will count towards the maximum number of people for the classroom.
    • If payment for this course is required, make every effort to pay with exact change to avoid exchange of checks or money.
    • Each student shall bring their own face covering, writing utensil, paper, water bottle and will only be allowed to bring into the classroom a jacket, face covering, keys, writing utensil, paper, phone and wallet. Food and drinks will not be provided, students should bring their own meals/snacks for the day.
