The Maine trapper safety education course teaches participants how to responsibly trap furbearing animals and provides a foundation of knowledge upon which to build. Topics in the 10 hour course include proper trapping equipment and use, responsible trap setting, the importance of good wildlife management practices, and habits and traits of furbearers. Students must pass a written exam. All Trapping Educations Courses are homestudy courses with required outside work. Homestudy requires attendance at all sessions as well as study at home, in order to receive your certificate.

This course is limited to 15 students from each location…..

Total = 10 Hours

  • Fur Management = 1 Hour
  • Tools of the trade = 2 Hours
  • Trap Setting = 1 Hour
  • Handling Animals = 1 Hour
  • Laws and Landowner Relations = 2 Hours
  • Field Exercise = 2 Hours
  • Exam = 1 Hour

This course requires you to attend TWO dates and locations.  You must attend BOTH sessions.   When you register here; you will be registering for the first class at the Masonic Hall in Turner on September 11th  from 6PM to 9PM.  At this class you will receive materials and instruction to prepare you for the second class to be held at the Kingfield Town Hall  on September 22nd from 9AM-5:00 PM.

NOTE: Registering for this class will include you in the class on the 22nd in Kingfield. This will be a busy day. Please bring a lunch with you and dress appropriately for outdoor work.

Students are required to complete all homework required, attend both classes, and pass the written test to obtain the certification card for your license.

NOTE: Any student under the age of 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian sign their registration card the first night.

COST:  There will be a 10.00 fee to attend the course to be collected the first night in Turner.  NOTE: If you register and then find you cannot attend, please notify us so your seat can be given to someone else.

    • Hello Earl. People can register until the limit is reached and the registration link is no longer available.
